If most of us remain ignorant of ourselves, it is because self knowledge is painful and we prefer the pleasures of illusion. - Aldous Huxley
So what is the meaning of this quote from Aldous, some think it's about taking responsibility for your actions, others feel it is about your strengths and weaknesses and I believe its facing your deep emotions, the dark places, the turnaround and face yourself moments.
Drag your head out of the sand and cry out a river, dust yourself off and be done forever with that emotional situation until your hit with the next wave. The difference is, the next wave will be gentler than the last and you will see it before it pounds into you leaving you less vulnerable than before... albeit a bit wet
Never think that substance abuse will mask anything, that is a phrase used often and incorrectly, blocking out any emotions like that creates much bigger waves, waves upon waves, violent waves and for some poor souls a deadly tsunami.
There is absolutely nothing to fear in facing yourself, there is so much to learn it's like finding something so rare, uncut and unseen
... a diamond in the rough !
